I use an Assenmacher #5063. Does the job and fits my other car too. You can find them on Amazon.

Road trip imminent!

Getting close to heading out the door to put some substantial miles on the Pathy over the next few weeks. Roughly 7500 miles... New Mexico to east Tennessee (this leg towing a car), down to Mississippi, back up to Tennessee, back to New Mexico, up to Wyoming & Montana, down to New Mexico, then o...

Airbag pressures for towing

So I'm about to drag a Versa sedan 1500 miles or so on one of U-Haul's finest auto transports. That'll be about 5,000lbs altogether what with the empty weight of the trailer, which is listed by them as 2,200. I have airbags, I usually keep about 10 psi in them when unloaded. Any recommendations for ...

Well, got the pathy back and the bodywork is all fine again, you really can't tell. I had some issues with the re-installation of various bits of trim, which had been done rather sloppily, but those have been resolved now so it all looks good. Totals cost was $3200, so glad it wasn't out of my pocket!

damn it to hail

A bit of unseasonable weather a couple of weeks ago in southern NM. The pathy was parked outdoors at work, but looked fine when I drove home but it was still wet. Left early next morning to catch a plane so didn't see it again in daylight until the Monday, only to discover quite a few of these... ht...

For your light trail driving, I'd recommend these. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Wrangler+SilentArmor I would have got them if I did a little less aggressive trails. +1 for these, I bought a set a couple of years ago and have been very happy with them. Stab...

I actually like the feature. I use it frequently to lower the temp of the interior when it's hot outside. One thing I really like about the fob is the range. These older style fob's (the ones before push button ignition) have incredible range. I can drop the windows while I'm walking to the vehicle...

I haven't had a chance to play with this yet but I think the culprit is worn bump stops. The creaking is coming from the tail gate metal rubbing on the metal body. One weekend I'm going to replace those rubber stops and see if that helps. That's a good thought. I was thinking the noise I have was f...

but I have an electric cooler that I've run for several hours without issue. I made a little hook for a rechargeable lantern that I hooked in to the power port in the back. That works a treat! I'd be careful about the cooler. It will work for a while but will cook your battery over time - the conti...

I did none of the bracket stuff, just through the bumper, but I have to say the mod definitely falls into the category of "should have done it ages ago". Almost done with a 2500 mile trip with camping gear in back and three bikes on a hitch mount rack. Pumped them up to about 18 psi and it...

So I took the vehicle in for the regular rotation and balance, and asked about the spare. They checked it and said it was not a big deal, so I put it back up. I'll try to remember to drop it once in a while and spin it around.

Thanks guys. I have silent armors on the other four wheels, wasn't about to buy five of those suckers! Doing a 5-way rotation would mean mixing tires, so that's out. In thinking about it more I guess even though it's dented the tire itself has never been rolled on. Makes me think that is less of a r...
