Excellent, thanks for the links! Yes, that's the type of campsite I am looking for. Pleasure. What you are looking for in campsites are what is called "Community Campsites". They are not owned and managed by the Parks Boards, but by the communities on whose land they are. That means you d...

As far as info, this forum and its members are pretty good. You will encounter a lot of people talking in Afrikaans, but we are all at least bilingual, with even more that speak 3 languages +, so feel free to ask someone to speak English if you don't understand. :D http://www.4x4community.co.za/foru...

Re: Namibia

Another long road trip on foreign soil is behind me. Took the girlfriend and another friend of ours to Namibia for a bit over 3 weeks and ~4000km of driving mostly dirt roads. Rented a Toyota Hilux with 2 rooftop tents. I brought along an old ground tent for my own personal use that I gave away at ...

Maybe the fact that diesel does not ignite on spark, but on compression, made the ECU inject more of it to get/keep it going with the diesel in the tank. Maybe close to the point of hydraulic lock. This could have caused some rings to crack and break under these pressures that normal gasoline rings ...

Re: Turbocharged Pathfinder

I'm assuming your Pathy has a diesel? We don't have the diesel in North America, so I'm assuming he's trying to turbo the VQ40DE.. I made the same assumption, hence the smiley. 8) Anyway, was serious about the mounting of the intercooler. Look at in front of the radiator. You should be able to fit ...

Search for the elusive rattles.

over the last 130k miles I have become accustomed to the rattles all over inside the cabin. Never really bothered to trace and eliminate them. That is until yesterday. For some reason they started to irritate the crap out of me. The first two were pretty easy to find and fix. They were in the headre...

Re: Turbocharged Pathfinder

Has anyone installed a turbocharger on their 2006 Pathfinder? I am looking for ways to draw the intercooler piping because I can't seem to find any room to do so. Is there anywhere I can buy a manifold, or do I have to fabricate it myself? Thanks in advance Mine came standard with a turbocharger. :...

Rear final drive side oil seal replacement.

I've noticed a few drops of oil on my garage floor, under the rear differential. It is intermittent, meaning if I wipe it up, I might have a few drops again in a few days. Funny thing is, in the basement at work, where the Pathy is parked at an angle, there is absolutely no oil on the floor. Anyway,...

You paid $1400 for the bumper + shipping? My Pathfinder was the first one to be fitted with this front bumper, as they wanted to see if the Navara/Frontier bumper will fit the Pathfinder. $1400 is what I paid at the shop, so it is all inclusive. I was wrong about Brazil. They are from Argentina. Ma...

That looks amazing, too bad shipping it to the states would probably cost triple the price. :( You might be surprises. They are manufactured somewhere in South America (Brazil??) and imported to South Africa. I paid the equivalent of $1400, and that includes the foglights (which are pretty crap btw...

Okavango Delta, Botswana

I went to the delta a few weeks ago, towing my offroad caravan. Had an awesome time testing the capabilities of the vehicle and caravan. Must say the vehicle and rig turned out to be quite capable. The route from where I work on a diamond mine to the Delta. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hph...

It would be easy to calculate the size of the inverter and amount of batteries you need. All you need for this is the amp rating of all the equipment you want to run at the same time and for how long. Based on that you can determine the wattage of the inverter and the amount of batteries. We have a ...
