That pretty much covers it, it sounds like my big V6 is a 4-banger... I drove it after posting, and from the driver's seat, it's a little better but not much. At WOT, the sound of the engine (mostly from the CAI) still overpowers the exhaust. Under mild acceleration (2k-3k) is when it's loudest, but ...

After browsing through this topic I decided to follow the crowd and do the dual 2 1/4 in, single 2 1/2 out magnaflow muffler, replacing the y-pipe. Worried about drone (and to save a few bucks), I had the guy leave the factory resonator on. Not too bad, took an hour, paid about 150 for it.
