About a year ago my 06-V6 Toyota 4Runners radiator sprung a little leak with 170,000 miles on it at that time so no big deal new radiator. When I took the old one out I noticed the inside area that was covered with shrouding was totally plugged up with leaves, bugs, dirt, and what ever ells the road...

Thanks for the info I think I will change out the rears before the snow flies. Is it a difficult job to change out the rears? Or is it better left to a professional?

1,000 miles per quart of oil in the sump based on acidity increase from combustion byproducts. This happens before anything else, and will happen over time to any oil you choose. Last time I checked AMSOIL only tests better in the "tri-ball" test - which is intended for greases. Mobil 1 i...

So from what I read I guess keep it in 5th gear until you come to a hill and drop it in 3rd gear and let it spin. It looks like there is little advantage to towing in 4th gear. My 2006 V6 Toyota 4Runner was different it was recommended not to tow in 5th gear at all. I would follow this although I wo...

Shock upgrade ?

I mentioned in another post that in time I will add the Airlift 1000 air bags to my Pathy at that time I plan to upgrade the rear shocks to some Bilstines. Can I get away with just replacing the rear shocks or do I have to replace both the front and rear at the same time to avoid handling problems f...

Refer to Nissan service bulletin #NTB06-072B for the belt squeak. Nissan has an updated tensioner and belt to address the problem and it also give details of how to check and/or adjust the power steering pump for possible alignment issues. The updated parts are referred to as a "serpentine bel...

Airlift I have seen the light!

I was driving in upstate NY yesterday when I pass this Pathy towing a travel trailer not a huge one prob 20" foot single axle hard top camper. When I went by I noticed the back end of his PH sagging a bit but the real issue I noticed was when he hit a bump the back end of his truck would bounce...

According to the service manual, the torque converter only goes into lock-up in gears 3 and 5, never in gear 4. So extra heat is generated while in gear 4. This makes no sense to me? Why would the TQ lock up in 5th and not forth gear? I would think it would be less stress on the trans to drive in 4...

Shell Full Synthetic 5w30 for me and 6-7,000 change int. Although I don't think the shell is as good as The Mobil 1 but the Shell Synthetic is more then good enough for 6-7,000 miles it's good oil I have used it for years. As for filters I run either Nissan OEM or Fram Ultra.

Just one more thing 3,500 miles on a synthetic oil is a waste. If you are going to change your oil that often then just run a quality conventional oil. My advice to you is run your synthetic oil for 6,000 miles the take an oil sample and send it off to a lab to have it tested and the lab can tell yo...

The best or one of the best filters on the market is the Fram Ultra it has two layers of synthetic fiber for filtration backed by a metal screen for support, metal end caps, silicon anti drain back valve, and a solid can. It also filters down to real small particles. Off hand I can't recall how smal...

General Grabber AW?

Ok so I know it's July but living in the snow belt I am already thinking about winter and I am looking at the General Grabber AW tires that came stock on my 2012 PF and they don't look all that aggressive. So who here ran them over the winter and how did they do? Or would I be better off swapping th...

What oil filter are you running? It sounds like your filter is not working correctly like the drain back valve is not working right. Personally I would switch filter brands and make sure the one you pick has a silicon anti drain back valve (look at the filter opening the filter gasket inside the fil...
