Any connection to catalytic converter failure?

i have an 06 pathfinder with 77k miles and service engine light came on. my local mechanic said take to dealer as we need a new catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. apparently catalytic converter covered until 80k miles. i'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they will replace the second catalyti...
