Eh, I guess it's possible but highly unlikely. Those are the end links, they are very light weight and not under any real pressure. Looks like your cover or seal has deteriorated which could cause a squeak but nothing much more than that. I would replace it, I think they are $12ea and would take 5-1...

I was thinking blower motor too but the noise is well above that and almost at the top of the dash area. Of course today I did not have time to tear things apart. Also, as some other posters have mentioned, I think it is possibly temp related. I had absolutely ZERO sign of this noise all summer long...

I also have an 08' with 66k on it. Last week I checked the fluid just to see what it would look like on the dipstick and it was clean as could be. Drained it the other day and fluid looked great. Who knows, I wonder why yours would have been so dark...
