CVT's aren't new technology, snowmobiles have always used them. I remember carrying a new belt for when they would fail in the trail. Having dealt with that, and seeing the abuse they take, I did the software upgrade. I wouldn't want to create the right conditions, and have the belt chatter on the s...

We've had our 2013 for 3 months and love it. Sure, it's not an offroader by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I have already broken the chrome covered plastic molding on the bumper just driving in deep snow. It's smoother, quieter, bigger, faster, and gets better mileage than our Volvo XC70 A...

Not saying I'm cool or anything, but I have pretty keen senses for car issues being a mechanical engineer and motorhead. I never noticed any jutter on my car before the upgrade, maybe my driving conditions didn't excite it. I got the update, and don't notice any behavioral differences in the how the...

With my wife short hopping a couple of miles to work in bitter cold, around 18. With me commuting 28 miles, most if it on freeway at 65, a whopping 27. That's pretty impressive! Everything else in between those extremes.

Having it integrated would be hard and expensive, if you could get the parts. the parts supply chain isn't developed yet while they use everything they have to make cars. You can buy stand-alone separate inverters that plug in a lighter outlet. Remember, though, they're only good for about 150W. For...

Ours has been perfect for 2000 miles. I'm taking it in Tuesday for the software update, just because. I am a gear head, I changed our Chevelle's TH400 automatic for a TKO 5 speed for fun. This CVT keeps me thoroughly entertained driving the car, seeing what the computer does with the RPM vs what I w...

Oops, I had said "save until you can get the premium." I meant Platinum, and just edited it. The Premium gets you two headrest monitors and two sun roofs for $2000. Since no one rides in the back of ours now, and we would have read to the kids or talked anyway while driving, the monitors w...

My wife and I have decided on the SL Pathfinder. Should be picking up in a couple weeks. The sliding second row is amazing since we have 2 car seats for our girls. Wish i could afford the Premium but cant splurge to much. Smart move. Except... save until you can get the Platinum. My wife's favorite...

I found out it's CS197. The dealer didn't even know about it, I had to nudge them along to keep looking. Finally they found it. Haven't had time to have it done yet, so I don't know what the change will feel like.

We ordered ours unsight/unseen on the first day they were taking orders in October. We negotiated $500 over invoice, whatever that ended up to be. I saw the invoice pricing about half way between order and delivery. When it got here, Nissan had added a marketing fee. The dealer ate it with no questi...

Transmission software update

I read in another Pathfinder forum about a recall to updated the transmission software to cure a stutter around 40mph. Anyone hear this or have it done? I want to be armed with all the info before I go to the dealer to tell them how to look for the update in the Nissan system.

We had a JX ordered, and cancelled when the dealer yanked us around AND I started learning more about the Pathfinder. Here is fact from experience... - The PF has the new, wider ratio, more efficient CVT. Compared to the JX, it cruises 1600 rpm instead of 2000 at 60mph. It has 5000lb towing instead ...

TPMS for a second set of wheels

I got a set of Murano "5-Y" wheels, Blizzak snow tires, and OEM TPMS sensors to use on our Platinum in the winter. I didn't know quite what would happen with the second set of TPMS sensors, but didn't have any choice. If I had to reprogram the car twice a year, well, then that's what I wou...

The important thing is the offset and hub bore if you're considering aftermarket (or another Nissan/Infiniti) wheel. The offset is 50mm on the stock 18" and 20" wheels. The hub bore is 66.1mm. Gotta keep them hubcentric. We have a Platinum with 20" (obviously). I got a set of Murano &...
