I guess I'll be the Guinea pig here then. I pulled the FSM for the IPDM and found no mention of the transfer relays, unless I missed it. I have to track their circuit down and run from there. I checked the diagnostics for the consult input /output signals from the transfer control unit and it's all ...

4wd Conversion - Complete Drive Train on Hand

I have a very specific question and I'm hoping smj999smj is still around. Long story short, I need know the complications of plugging a 4wd Transfer Control Unit into the CAN BUS system on a 2wd 4.0 auto. I have all the parts and equipment to do a 4wd conversion and I have a solution to mechanically...

Got a litttle time with the engine today. Solenoids weren't clogged and actuate fine. Pulled a spark plug and got a bit of an oil smell as much as a gas smell. Priced out new valve covers and a complete engine gasket kit for around 220 total. I need to get a gauge to do a compression test. I didn't ...

Quick question to add to my options here. Some guys on the Frontier forums did a bunch of digging around about doing a VK55 swap. Do you guys think the 08 Pathfinder VK, wiring harness, and transmission would relatively smooth to drop into an 05? Fairly similar in cost as doing a VQ40 replacement.

For the love of god, this. You have no idea how long I have been trying to figure out why it's running lean.

I do need to run a compression test for sure. As far as tuning it, is uprev the only option? There aren't any shops around me that can tune a car like that.

I can monitor most of the sensors still (primarily o2, fuel trims, etc...) Not sure if I would be able to see that particulat data. I know oil pressure is the issue for sure. You can watch oil seap from the head gasket onto the exhaust manifold anytime I fill it. First step at this point is to start...

Fix or Sell?

A while back, one of my front catalytic converters completely clogged up and started to crumble. When it gave out, the back pressure blew oil out of the head gaskets all over the engine bay. Since then, I haven't had the money to do many of the repairs or get a new vehicle. I drilled out all four co...

Just to give an update for reference, I went with Rancho RS9000xl's on the rear and the quicklift up front. Cant stand it. The compression and rebound rates have decreased over time and have led to shock failure on one corner. On two other corners the damping factor is non-existent. I have uncontrol...

Trust me when I say you'll be able to find the oxygen sensor under your car. Crawl under and and follow your exhaust coming out of either piston bank. You'll see a wire and plug heading into two places down the length of either exhaust pipe. The first one will be infront of the first cat and the the...

Rancho RS9000 - Still Too Soft

I've been running a rancho quicklift with OME medium springs in the rear and no sway bar upfront. My daily commute has me using every inch of articulation my rig has to keep traction. The travel is right where I need it for a comfortable ride, but my shocks keep getting softer. I'll look and they wi...

^Right.

It's my pathfinder and I'm keeping it. Damn it. Lol.

I'm not sold on a solid axle. I like the uniqueness of a fully independent trail rig. Obviously I can't rock crawl as well, but luckily there's not too much of that in North Florida.

I was more of looking for the width. I'm loving the 2" lift I have now, but I want a little more clearance on the trails and I'm not the most comfortable with running another 5 inches higher without a wider wheel base with the way I drive. I'm also more of a 33" tire kind of guy. I'm currently sitti...

No kidding. If it weren't for the fact that my girl is about to go into labor I would probably go for it. As is, I think I would get shot for getting mor car parts with the money we've saved up for the baby. I was nearly shot just for getting a light bar and a bunch of steel piping to build a bracke...

Yeah, I'm thinking I might call it quits with an upper control arm for better drop on the front. The rear isn't too bad. I'm still going to hear to a wreck yard and look at the underside of an armada. There's a pain in my ass side that has a dumb idea to look at welding an armada sub frame to the pa...

The travel on the rear isn't too bad for my needs. The front definitely needs upper control arms as I'm hitting the coil bucket. Another long term project of mine is restoring on old 72 mustang to a modern daily driver with a 3 link coil over conversion for the rear axle. I know how complicated it c...
