(My) Successor to the R51 (yes, it's a Nissan)

Hi All, The '06 Pathfinder currently has 330 000 km on it, and is starting to look pretty bad. The two separate deer incidents have turned to front clip to mush, held in place with zip ties and Gorilla tape. It still runs amazingly well, considering the original(!) spark plug is seized in cylinder #...

Yup, leaving in the morning. We'll be blazing right through the 'peg on our way to Brandon on the first day. Truck is not showing any issues and gas mileage is improved (5 out of 6 new plugs?). If you see a brown/beige R51 with a Yakima box and 4 bikes on the roof: Wave that's us

Thanks for the replies! The plug is driver's side rear, near the firewall, so somewhat difficult to get at. It's completely seized, not going in or out. Judging by the excellent condition of the rest of the plugs (no corrosion at all) I'm almost certain it was cross threaded. The plug is not going a...

Seized MF#$%@&n spark plug!

2006 R51 with about 180 000 (Canadian) km on it. I'm about to take it on a cross-country trip to BC and decided to do some preventative maintenance. On the list were spark plugs, which apparently were never changed (2nd owner). Five came out like butter. The last is seized, about 1/4 of the way out....

2005's only Eh? I've got an '06 which sounds like a poster child for these symptoms. Two points keep me from tearing into it: 1) It's intermittent (worse in high heat / extended highway situations) 2) Apparently it's not going to cause secondary problems 3) It's mostly my fishing/bush truck and I re...

Hear hear on the aggressive throttle response. ("No kids, that burnout at the traffic light was by accident! No, REALLY!!") Our other vehicle is a 2.0T powered Passat. With a more sane throttle map and some (minimal) turbo lag it's the polar opposite of the Pathfinder. I've adapted to the ...

^seconded. They are surprisingly good all round, including in the snow. Our winter driving conditions have run from Nov till end of April, with very little bare pavement driving in between. The studded Gislaved Nordfrost* on the Passat do better on hard ice (no surprise) but the Toyos on the Pathfin...

LOL ...nothing Fargo specific. I've just driven across the continent too many times. I usually try to block out the drive between Kenora and Calgary ...or between Minneapolis and Boulder. :D

Fargo! ...not my favorite town, but way up there in my list of awesome movies :D I believe that is the tire size I just installed on my SE. I'm running Toyo AT II's, and while clearance is tight, there is no rubbing. About the speedo: With my setup the speedo is now dead accurate. From the factory m...

Definitely sounds battery related. I had the same issue last fall, except mine didn't restart 20km+ from civilization., in a snow storm You'll want to get that looked at

The incessant cold (2 months of rarely rising above -20 C) combined with the lack of a garage made me defer the bleeding procedure to the dealer while the Pathfinder was in for an oil change. They performed that service for just-about-free as the service writer suggested that it may not have been bl...

Thanks for the reminder! I need to fix my TPS issue ...with a chunk of black electrical tape to cover up the light  I have one or more dead sensors and it has been down to -40 here recently, making even good sensors useless due to temperature-induced pressure fluctuations. And guess what? I...

I have an '06 and have watched my gauge with renewed interest in response to this thread  It's been ridiculously cold for the last two weeks, only rising above -20 today*. On start up my oil gauge goes right up to the max mark. Likely because of the thick(er) oil. (I use a block heater.) In a...
