Using the higher octane gas has not stopped the knocking. It has lessened it some, but it is still there. There is an air sensor in there still, so I think the ECU is just getting some slightly skewed data instead of no data at all. Either way I still think that this may be the culprit for the knock...

To be honest, I don't really remember. I remember trying it out on somewhat level ground and then actually having to use it when I had one wheel in air father down the trail. I will try again with wheels straight and see what happens. Edit: So I just went out and tried it again. This time it worked....

So, I have to switch into neutral in order to engage 4Hi. I tried it without being in neutral and the transfer case wouldn't engage. It would just sit there and blink at me until I shifted into neutral. I have the three mode transfer case that has 2wd, 4Hi, and 4Lo.

SLR Motorsports Performance Chip Problems

So, one of my friends just pointed out that I have a performance chip mounted on top of my air intake. I don't know how I completely missed this, but sure enough, it's there. It just happens to be a SLR Performance chip. I did some research and found that it was a huge scam company. Now I want to re...

So, I'm looking at radiators online and I have found a couple over at Amazon. I found the Spectra Premium Radiator for 165 with free shipping and I found another radiator for a little bit less. The later one says that it is a "Complete Aluminum Radiator", but I'm not sure if it is really a...

Hm, that's mostly what I was thinking as well. I just wasn't sure so I figured I'd ask. Either way should be enough to collect all the clutch material along with what ever other metal shavings and the like are there, right?

The guy that originally posted that idea wasn't satisfied with transmission filters because they didn't remove small enough particles in his opinion. He wanted the fuel filter to grab the really small stuff that other filters miss.

Yeah, I'll be knocking it out today. I figure it'll survive the short while until I pop in a new radiator. I think I may also put a fuel filter with a by-pass valve on the line to start filtering out some of the clutch particulates. I read about another guy doing that somewhere... I can't remember i...

I would say that this was much closer to a couple of millimeters than it was to 0.02 millimeters. It wasn't a huge amount of play, but there was a definite click click when shifting it along one of the axes of the joint.

So, the transfer case is clutched for 4hi which allows me to shift from 2wd into 4wd without having to shift into neutral or stop? I just want to double check before I start tearing up my transfer case. One of my friends had a Jeep Cherokee for a while and he swore that it was also a 4wd on the fly ...

Ahahaha, I think you'll love it down here then. I just got back from a surfing trip to West Palm and the weather was 78-80F for the high and upper 60's for the low. Love Florida winters 8)

I only got a few minutes this morning to check things out and discovered that the U-joint for the forward drive shaft near the transfer case has some play in it. Not sure if that was enough to cause the vibration I was feeling, though it has to replaced anyways. I will check the ball joints next aft...

Even at 160$ that's still not that bad for a new radiator. I will start looking into that this weekend along with my other projects. Thanks a lot for the tips. And on the ATF warming, living in Florida I don't really get exposed to very cold weather. The coldest it's gotten down here is about -2C. T...

So, a few things on this. This is where my lack of in depth mechanical knowledge is going to shine through. 1. You are suggesting replacing the radiator itself. Since the Rad-Trans Cooler is apart of the problem in this setup, I assume that replacing the radiator will also replace that particular co...
