Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

Thanks! I guess it's been awhile? I spend most of my time at thenewx.org since purchasing my Xterra. I was having trouble signing into my thenissanpath.com account for awhile, so I just didn't bother after awhile.

Re: New Valve Covers

Mitzone makes pretty good plastic valve cover sets with gaskets, cap and new bolts. They tend to run in the $65-$70 range for both covers in a set. They also make aluminum valve covers, but I've heard mixed reviews on them. I've purchased two set of Mitzone valve covers and have had no issues.

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

One thing I would recommend replacing while the front cover is off is the oil galley cover plate gasket on the front of the rear timing cover. Z1 Off-road sells a kit with improved gaskets and new bolts. The cover gaskets tend to blow-out on these engines and cause low oil pressure at idle and can ...

Alloyworks All-aluminum radiator-cap question

Has anyone purchased the Alloyworks all-aluminum radiator and installed it on their R51 Pathfinder? The radiator is nice, but the cap they supply is incorrect for our vehicles. It has a 16 PSI rated cap with the spring and plunger on the bottom of the cap. As most of you know, it is the coolant ...

Re: Smj's R51 Front & Rear wheel bearing How-to

I cleaned-up the old bolts and re-used them. I put some anti-seize on the bolts in case I have to remove them again, someday.

Re: New Sludge Question

According to the Nissan parts catalog, the part numbers are different for the valve covers for the 95 Pathfinder VG30E and a 2001 Frontier VG33E (I had to use Frontier because a 2001 Pathfinder has the VQ35DE engine). All are shown as discontinued by Nissan. You could try Car-part.com to look for a ...

Re: Where under the hood is the heater inlet pipe?

For my Xterra, I went with Dorman # 626598 outlet side hose @ $30 from Rockauto and the inlet side hose I got for $42 w/ spring clamps from Z1offroad.com, which has a bleeder:

Re: what do folks think of this upgraded heater hose assembly?

It won't work on the V8 (#92408-ZS20A). It's only for the V6 R51 w/ rear HVAC. I'm not sure if that's the same as the one another member tried; he said the hoses on the bottom came up a little short. I also would have preferred that they use constant tension clamps like OE rather than worm gear ...

Re: Crappy Nissan battery.

With the overtime at the prison, the closest I get to going off-road is my driveway after the rain! Going back to batteries, I remember when I started working with Nissan, they used to sell fresh-packed batteries. We would get the Nissan batteries shipped to the dealer and then would purchase ...

Re: Stmble on a slight hill

Yes, but isn't this everywhere? Let's take eyeglasses, for example. I purchased a set of reading glasses from Walgreen's last week. It seems well constructed, looks good and consists of a frame and lens for around $10. Meanwhile, if I were to get a set of just basic glasses from my Optometrist, I'd ...

Re: Engine Z24 cuts out ONLY when turning left, WD21 1989

I remember working on a 2001 Buick Park Ave. that would stall out on right turns per the customer and I verified. Turned out to be a bad ignition switch. Terminal 1 on the switch provided power to both the turn signal switch AND the ECM. There was some apparent resistance within the switch for ...

Re: Crappy Nissan battery.

With the purchase of the '12 Xterra to replace my Pathy, I decided to go with a Diehard Platinum AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts. It was $209 at the time, which was earlier this year. It's made by Clarios, which bought out Johnson Controls, and has a 3-year replacement warranty. Compared to the ...

If you're going to replace the radiator, you might as well replace the heater pipes on the firewall before they break!

Re: Anyone here a member on clubfrontier.org?

Is anyone here an active member on the clubfrontier.org forums? I found a listing on their parts for sale forum for a set of wheels. I registered so I could contact the seller who is in the next town over from me, but members need to be registered for 10 days and have 10 posts before they can ...
