Thanks for the advice but nah I'm not pulling the manifold off just incase I break a stud in the head, could you imagine all the trouble that damn cat would have caused. I took a big radiator clamp and cut 2 slots in the heatshield and strapped in to the exhaust manifold. If that fails then I might ...

If you can't screw it into the tranny you could always get a brass tee from the holmes depot or lowes and monitor fluid temp on the hose going to the cooler, or you could call Summit Racing and they can steer you in the right direction.

I have a 2006 path se with 124000mi and had the dreaded P0430 MIL code, so I swapped out the cat and fair warning to you guys the bolts that hold the heatshield to the exhaust manifold WILL BREAK OFF :evil: :evil: . FML I brought a passenger side cat, turns out it's a drivers side cat that's giving me the trouble code.

Bank 1=passenger side
Bank 2=drivers side

I'm up to 19.2mpg I mostly drive on the highway but when driving in the city it goes down. I have a P4030 MIL code and will be getting a new Cat soon.

Ok when looking at the factory cooler is the upper passenger side corner of the cooler where the hot oil comes in? Kind of confused by your explaination, just got this truck and learning my way around.

I just got a 2006 4x4 SE and all I'm getting is 17.8mpg and the highway cruising is at 65MPH but I got a MIL light (P4030). I will probably get a new cat real soon.
