Frankly I hate the programming on the transmission I wish it was programmed to shift more aggressive even at the cost of a little millage. It does learn your driving style and mine shifts pretty good. I'm on winding hilly roads for most of my commute and I'm pretty hard on the go pedal...so it's us...

So, I'm the type that likes to start with the basics and work from there. One common squeak on these is from the hood latch. For some reason it sounds like it's in the passenger side suspension, but it wasn't. Wrap electrical tape 2/3 times around the striker on the hood. This costs you nothing and ...

Well I just bought a certified preowned 2011....my first Niassan....and this thread is bumming me out bad. I have a weird 1kRPM/40MPH vibration going on. The '11 was supposed to be after that radiator was updated, so you should be good there. I'd probably still keep an eye on it. If the fluids aren...

How do I do the burp deal? I've heard that mentioned a lot on here it seems. You hear it mentioned because it's almost always the cure for the problem you described. I have no idea why but mine needs this every year or so. Plus, if there are air pockets in the system then you don't have as much coo...

It's not worth a lot with a bad transmission. On the other hand, these are still pretty valuable in running order. I think it would make sense to replace the transmission as cheaply as possible and then decide. Buying a complete rebuilt unit will be expensive. At such high miles, I'd probably look f...

It's pretty easy to wire up the light bars or Hellas to fire with your high beams. Then you don't have to worry about turning them on/off individually.

Fixed Door Squeaks and Rattles

So I've had a rattle/vibration in the drivers front door persist for awhile and decided to take a stab at it. I'm fairly tolerant of random or occasional noises, but this one was getting to be constant and coming right up into my ear. It was at the bottom of my door and I could make it stop by pulli...

Probably a fluke and I wouldn't be concerned unless it persists or worsens. If the number was 100 I'd be thinking about an early change to monitor it but this is still reasonable.

Lead can also end up in the oil from contaminated fuel or octane boosters.

For sure. I'm curious what kind of life is typical for these transmissions excluding the radiator issue. I don't recall seeing many (any?) replaced that weren't associated with the milkshake. I'm at 140k miles and still shifts like new.

Michelin usually has a rebate this time of year. It's $70 if you buy four right now. The best deal was at Sam's Club which has Michelin Radial X LT2's which appear to be identical to the M/S2 and $10 cheaper per tire plus you can still get the rebate. But my club didn't carry that size and they were...

Just installed my 3rd set of Michelin LTX M/S2 yesterday. Just under 60k miles out of this set and they still had about 4/32nds. I thought about going with a cheaper tire but these have just performed so well over the years I don't think saving $100 is worth it.

I'd just grab a test light and poke around the bulb harness with the parking lights turned on. Should be able to just tap the wire there. Hella probably was using a more quality relay 13 years ago. I mean $50 is awfully damn cheap for lights so they've got to cut back somewhere. I use mine on-road w...

I'm not sure what fuse 36/37 is, but I can't think of any reason that wouldn't work. I tied mine with the high beams and tagged a wire near the headlamp harness. A tester is pretty easy to use on the bulb socket to figure out which wire you want to grab. I'm not much of a Hella 500 fan. I ran them f...

I've had the Airbag 1000's in place for a number of years. At least four years. For $75 or whatever I paid for them, I honestly didn't expect them to be faultless for this long. But I've never had a loss of air, noise, etc. Very happy with them and they make a huge difference. Best money you can spe...

Sounds like it might be an issue with the auto climate control or sensors. Mine is a bit skittish but only on the temp settings. I pretty much run mine in manual mode because it's goofy as hell in auto sometimes. Make sure you've got the dual temp synch'd.
