I wasn't saying it was a good jack, Im just saying that it wouldn't have happened under proper use.

The weight and placement killed it. A higher quality unit probably wouldn't have buckled but that doesn't excuse jacking up a car or truck improperly.

Of course it crumbled, the idiot who was using it clearly went beyond that jack's capacity.. not to mention it doesn't look like it was seated properly on the diff, which is why it twisted in the first place. And you shouldn't be going under a vehicle unless it's supported by stands. You couldn't pa...

I have similar issues on my 05 SE... by the time the gauge is reading next to empty and the DTE is reading 0km, I've only gone about 450km and my fillup is around 65L. That means another 15 liters is swimming around in the tank, that's not even close to empty. Its another 100km of driving easily.

Reddish light brown, and it should be nice and opaque. If its milky or not really see-through then you might be on your way to problems. And no car doesn't need to be running.

If the fluid looks to be off, drain it all entirely and have a closer look.

No, it would be quite evident that the two had mixed. You might not catch it if only a few drops get in, but when enough coolant has been in there the fluid will definitely show it on the dipstick. The fluid is always circulating and would always be mixing. Unless you check the dipstick when the car...

There's a dipstick under the hood, its locked down by a 10mm bolt. It's on the passenger side.

The tell-tale sign will be a strawberry milky looking transmission fluid.

Check it every once in a while and you'll be okay. If you notice discoloration or loss of clarity in the fluid, it's mixing with coolant.

IMO by the time you notice symptoms while driving, it's far too late.

Fluid will leak out, but it won't gush out. It's not pressurized but the hoses are full.

Take them off one at a time, and point them upwards so that you don't lose too much fluid.

No big deal either way, have a drip pan near by.

Yes I would say it makes sense to do the modification right off the bat, though I guess it depends on what year your truck is. I haven't heard of any 06+ having the transmission problem but that could very well be because it just hasn't had enough time to develop yet. Better safe than sorry, I did t...

Question about the wheels..

Are those little silver nuts (or whatever) around the rim removable? Reason I ask is because I like the wheels, but I'd want to paint those things black or get rid of them entirely.

Mine were rattling like crazy... I put two metal hose clamps on the offending parts and it took care of it. If it rusts away over the winter I'll spend another $3 in the spring and do it again. No big deal, less than 5 bucks and 5 minutes of work.

The heat shields sit above the pipe, not below it ;)

They're there to protect the underbody, not the ground.

Yep, had the same problem. Go buy metal hose clamps and fix it proper. I think the diameter is no more than about 2.5"

Those same professionals will have a kit to take off the broken one too. You can get this kit yourself but you'll wind up spending more money.
