keefer,

It is awsome that you did it yourself and claim to not having a mechanical bone in your body. Your experience is encouraging because I might be changing mine in the next week or two. Any advise for Do-It-Yourself'ers?

118,000 miles on my '05. Bought it in Sept '06 with 16,000 miles. I replaced the original battery at 73,000 miles, the belt tensioner at 93K, the IPDM at 105K, and the oil pressure switch at 108K. That has been about it, as far as repairs go. Oh yeah, my gas guage sender acted up at about 95K. I hav...

Look at black plastic on just about any vehicle a few years old and you will see this problem. Direct sunlight, heat, and black plastic just dont get along.

Damp and dampen are synonyms, so I am sure either will work.

And that class is our English lesson for the day! We gotta make sure use of proper grammar and sentence formation is used on a car forum! :P

It's actually a vibration damper - not a dampener. It doesn't make the vibration more damp. Dampener is correct... damp·en (dmpn) v. damp·ened, damp·en·ing, damp·ens v.tr. 1. To make damp. 2. To deaden, restrain, or depress: "trade moves . . . aimed at dampening protectionist pressures in Cong...

Last week my dad gave me his old ski boat. I learned how to ski behind this boat as a teenager. It is a 1981 Invader. 16 foot with an open bow.
90 hp Evinrude outboard.

One would think there would be more information on a Nissan Pathfinder forum than this. Sucks when you have to go to a Frontier forum to figure something out. There are some things you should notice and concider... Thenissanpath.com is about the only Pathfinder exclusive forum, which currently has ...

deermj,

Unfortunately you are going where most havent gone before. Anything you find out by investigating/ testing the relay would be new info to this message board.

Whether the ipdm is faulty, or just a relay, fact remains that it is only serviced as a complete unit.

I wasnt just loosing traction, I had all 4 tires sliding laterally. I assume VDC probably helped in regaining control though, it did recover quite quickly. I dont want to intentionally repeat drifting in any suv, whether it has great suspension or not.

Did you have VDC turned off? Otherwise how were you drifting?
VDC was on. Trust me, if you go thru a turn fast enough, the tires WILL break loose sideways. VDC wont stop that.

Swapping relays is only a temporary repair to get you down the road if you are stranded. Besdies, like you said... you dont have rear defrost. All your symptoms are exactly what the IPDM failure acts like. You need to bite the bullet and get the IPDM panel. Supposedly the Titan IPDM is cheaper and w...

Officially sucks? No. If you are having problems with yours, it is Not typical. Sounds like what others are saying... you may have other problems. I say the rear suspension officially rules! The first day of owning my Pathy I realized too late that I was entering a curved on-ramp going too fast. I e...

Go ahead and weigh out what you think is ...

I always use a Fram filter, so I know the oils getting filtered well.
Intersting how there is so much love/hate for Fram filters. Some people swear by them, others wouldnt use them if they were free.
