He meant O2 sensors not spacers. They can go bad after a period of time. The P0430 code simply means that the reading from an O2 sensor is not within spec. This usually means one or more of the O2 sensors are bad. In the case of the Pathfinder, it seems that the cats typically go bad before the O2 ...

Interesting. So what exactly is the reason for the spacers? I mean, i know it's to stop the code but how does that make a difference?

I don't think it's something that needs to imminently be fixed, but you do have to address that problem eventually. You won't be able to do emissions testing w/ it...so that's a bummer. There are prob some other things to consider, but as far as i remember, there wasn't anything that was too seriou...

Not meaning to bump an older thread but after searching and reading this one, it seems I've got a cat issue? Pathy threw the SES light a day ago and I took it to O'Rielly's for a free scan. They told me is read something about the catalyst and a code 430. That being said, I'm about to have to change...

Changing the belt is not too difficult. Find the belt tensioner and there should be a bolt on the front. Get the correct wrench/socket on the bolt and you should put pressure aganist the direction it wants to go and the belt should slip right off. I hope that makes sense. OK, cool. I'll check it ou...

No problem. Post back what you find. Also, you could disconnect your battery to reset the code and drive around and see if it comes back on. True but as long as it runs fine, I'm not too worried. It's the wife's vehicle and she's a little freaked out. I also need to change the plugs and serpentine ...

Yeh that's what I'll do. I made sure the gas cap was on good and tight as well. Thanks!

- Turn key to On without starting the car. - Wait 3 seconds - Depress the gas pedal to the floor and release completely 5 times within 5 seconds, and leave your foot off. - Wait 7 seconds - Depress gas pedal and hold down until the check engine light goes out and let go of the pedal. The light will...

OK, I went back out to the shop to look into the issue further since swapping the pads didn't work. This time the pads had a wear pattern different from before, they look almost normal... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh134/daxnizmo/stuff/0310112103.jpg I removed the hardware kit and cleaned th...
