Oh, you mean the round threaded pieces that attach the screws to the fog light? Now that you mention it, I do vaugely remember struggling with that. You need to look really closely and they're keyed so they have to go in and turn a certain way to engage. I can't remember if I might have used a screw...

Not exactly sure of your question, and this may be obvious, but you have to make sure to put the plastic sockets into the metal bracket first, then pop in the ball side of the bolts. In the reverse order you'd never be able to get them in. They're both pretty tough to put in, but nothing that a pair...

I'd agree with the suggestion to run 91 octane or higher fuel. The "diesel" sound you hear might actually be dieseling...that is, premature ignition of the fuel in the cylinder. I've noticed pinging/knocking when running 87 and 89, even though the engine is supposed to adjust timing to avo...

Nothing against this, but is it really that hard to put a wrench on the plug?

It does seem to add a small amount of risk though...I try to stay away from anything (valve leak-by, seal failure,...) that could possibly result in losing my oil and running my engine dry.

I've never detected loss of oil on the dipstick (have never added any between oil changes at 6k miles). At oil changes, however, I always get significantly less than 5 qts out (incl. what I pour out of the old filter), although I put the recommended 5 3/8 in. The truck has done this since brand new....

Correct, I purchased them with the lights for an extra couple of bucks a piece.

On one of the Frontier forums someone postulated that it might be the secondary chains themselves that are causing the wear on the tensioners. A tech noticed that some chains seemed to have sharper edges, like might be caused by a worn die or poor tolerances during the stamping process. Nissan may h...

That's exactly why I switched back to OEM paper from my K&N drop in, worried about oil carryover onto the MAF sensor as well as particulate bypass.

I'm at 62k miles and no hint of hesitation or rough idle whatsoever.

Glad it worked out for you... I notice a huge difference from the stock fogs, it might have something to do with the adjustment screws you ditched. I have my lights aimed up a little higher, more like a driving beam, so I get quite a bit more distance and up-road lighting. Although I think that I ha...

I checked mine a couple of weeks ago at 60k, figure I still have another 20k before I need to check again. I'm really easy on the brakes and do mostly a combination of city/highway. Did change/bleed my brake fluid though, it was looking pretty dark. Something you might want to consider even though t...

I get a little bit of this shudder, but it's not bad enough for me to want to do anything about it. I just assume that it's the engine responding to the sudden increase in load and it takes a second for the ECU to increase fuel to maintain idle speed.

For any of the jobs that you mention there are several other parts that will need to be replaced at the same time, i.e. gaskets, seals, hoses. The secondary timing chain tensioner replacement ("plastic screaming wheels things") is a significant engine tear down needing a list of 10 or so d...

The Fortera TripleTreds are awesome on the Pathfinder. I have ~23k miles on my set, probably about 1/3 to 1/2 of tread life remaining. Great traction all around and they really firmed up the handling.

I can't comment on snow/ice performance, but I'd recommend them as solid tires.

I had a rattle on my '05 for the first year or so, I believe it might have been the A/C refrigerant line that runs along the firewall in the rear of the engine compartment. Took it in to Nissan one time and the tech said he didn't really do much, but it never returned since. Not sure what he did. I ...
