I think the real lesson here is not to exceed the capacity of your jack.
If he had put the jack on that shock mount , lifted one corner at a time and set it on jack stands he might have been ok.

A-Ha! I was looking for that too. My last suv, an 02 ford explorer did not have a tranny dipstick! They have a drain plug and fill plug like a differential, and ford wants you to take it to the dealer for service.

I owned a 2002 explorer and will never own another ford as long as I live. The rear end howls, tranny failed at 71k, ac blend doors break, window regulator cables break, etc. etc.... I learned too late that the 02 was the worst ever year for explorers, this time I did some research and I feel the Pa...

that's one nice thing about living here in Fresno, cars don't rust much.
the air is very dry and we have little rain, only about 11 1/2 inches a year, you see lots of well preserved old cars in california.

Like Frog says, disposal of the old coolant is the deal breaker for me.
In the old days noone thought twice about letting it run down the driveway into the gutter, but not anymore. I let the shop do this one, they have the set up to recover and dispose of the old fluids properly.

I would replace the shocks as a pair, or all 4 at once, but not one at a time. Presumably if the one side is shot the other is not far behind. Replacing one may cause the body to lean a little towards the old shock, I could only speculate that this could result in more wear on the weak side , but I ...

My wife has a 99 maxima with a 3.0 DOHC v-6 that uses a timing chain.
This motor was available starting 95. The SOHC version of the same era used a belt.

Top speed of Pathfinder

The speedo on my '06 goes up to 140.....I might get up to 100 or so once in a while, but I'll probably never run it all the way up to see how fast she goes, (getting to old for that). But I'm sure someone out there has done it and I'm dying to know "how fast does she go?"

Be aware that if you're spare is still a 16 you could have differential problems if you have to use the spare on the rear, or on the front also if 4wd.

Put my name on the list of people who were getting ready to buy a locking gas cap but now don't need to! Cool feature. I've only had the Pathie a couple of weeks and didn't get an owner's manual. (it's an 06 base model) I downloaded one from the top of the page and I'm learning all kinds of things. ...
