My sending unit just went at 76k...just a few weeks ago I threw away the letter for the 72k mile extended warranty since I was already over. Great timing. After Nissan quoting me ~$500, it was an easy decision to DIY with parts cost at $105. The service manual instructs you to remove the driveshaft...

I'm at 75k and pads still look brand new. My rotors are warped a bit, so going to get them turned on Monday, but otherwise my pads are good for a while.

When (if) I need new pads and rotors I'll be replacing with stock, since they've held up so well.

Also, this may be completely obvious but make sure you have the truck jacked/supported under the frame and not the control arm. You'll have more room to work and avoid putting force on the shock. You might also try putting a jack under the control arm (when the vehicle is already jacked up) and put ...

If I remember correctly, for the top bolt I used a small ratchet to hold the nut on the back side. You can wedge it in and use the truck frame to hold the ratchet while you focus on the bolt with your breaker. One thing I would suggest to someone trying this job: use a 1/2" drive impact socket ...

I didn't have a problem...slow going because of limited swing area, but they did come out without too much effort...at least nothing I remember having problems with. I was just using an ~18" breaker bar (albeit a thick one with 3/4" drive), no cheater pipe needed. Sorry, I wish I had a bet...

Yeah, I've broken it loose but VDC always catches it pretty quick and brings traction back to the rear. I've been very impressed with how well VDC seems to compensate for a loose rear end.

Did you have VDC turned off? Otherwise how were you drifting?

Thanks for clarifying. I think there's a bit of discussion on both in this thread.

I'm confused. Are you all talking about the secondary timing chain tensioner or the accessory drive belt tensioner?

Well, everything did go ok on the shocks/struts. Took about twice as long as I expected (8 hrs), but I'd rather go slow than mess something up. Rear shocks were like others said, not much room to work on the upper bolts but manageable - barely one click of swing on my torque wrench ratchet. For the ...

For anyone who's done the rear shocks themselves, how the hell did you get a wrench on the upper nut and bolt? Getting ready to put Rancho RS9000XL shocks and struts on this weekend. Just getting under the truck, I don't see any way to angle a torque wrench in there in between the arm and stabilizer...

I think you might mean the secondary timing chain tensioner?

This thread has a little more on it, but check for other threads on this site.
