Dont go directly from 2wd to 4Lo..You dont even need 4Lo..But anyways if your gonna use it,,then shift from 2wd to 4HI first, let it engage,put you transmission into neutral, then shift from 4Hi to 4LO..wait for the light to stop blinking then put it back in to drive your good to go. That thing should tow it great. I have a 16' car hauler and with my car loaded I'm at about 4500lbs. You definitely feel it but it still tows well, I would like to see how the V8 feels though

I had a bad u-joint in the front and rear driveshafts. You didn't mention front or rear driveshaft just rear u-joint. I would check that if you haven't yet.
