I use Gates component kits from Rockauto.com, which have the updated belt. Nice thing about them is that they have a limited-lifetime warranty. If the belts starts to crack or squeak or if the tensioner spring gets a little week, I order a whole new kit under warranty and send them back the old par...

From what I can see on Rockauto.com is that the difference between the old and new is 87 9/32" vs 87 7/8". So about 0.60". I see that new belts are available for about $15 or less, I'd probably just buy a new one and scrap the one you've had lying around for 4 years. You were right! ...

I seem to remember that the 2008 had serious redesigns to fit the V8 option in it.

In a well maintained R51, the engine will probably be the LAST thing to go.

Trans fluid level OK? Correct trans fluid? Changed recently? By-pass or new radiator installed? - Trans fluid is factory spec. Have not serviced the trans recently regarding fluid/filter - trans service is probably overdue - I know I’ve taken it in for all of its recalls and I believe the radiato...

As pictures on the internet only tell so much... For anyone who’s done this, when you jack the body up off of the top of the mounts, there’s nothing more connecting them to the body than the top surface of the mount right? There’s the one or two that have helper bolts which are also loosened ...

You were right, eieio. The main timing chain tensioner failed. It only has a thousand miles on it. When I pulled the cover, everything looked fine. When I started to turn the crank, the tensioner just collapsed all the way down to nothing. The cams were just flipping forward when it hit the backsid...

Some catalytic converter problems can result in engine damage (piston/ring/cylinder walls) from loose converter material getting sucked back into the engine.
A compression test might be of benefit.

My impression is that the noise is coming from the front engine cover area, maybe something left loose (tensioner system, cam sprocket..............).
A mechanic stethoscope may be useful to track it down further.

Re: Center Console Lid Latch Broke

The latching mechanism on the lid of my center console has always been broken (as in, missing). This makes the lid wobbly and quite annoying, requiring constant retightening of the three screws that connect it to the rear hinge mechanism. Do I need to replace the entire lid, or can I get a replacem...

Re: a little update

So, with the headliner out, I think I can get to every screw to be able to put a nut on it. However, the very back fixing is a little tight so I thought I'd run down the the local Nissan dealer here to see if they have the expansion nut...... They do. 22.50 Euros each, plus tax!!! 50 euros for two ...
