assuming you have to remove the entire drive shaft to replace both front and back u joints, how heavy is that thing? It looks all aluminum, but is this safely a one man job? Unbolt the 4 bolts to the rear diff pinion and drop the shaft down and slide it out? It's hollow inside the shaft, so it's no...

Re: Gas Milage 2005 Pathfinder 400 KM ? Poll

Hello, Just picked up a 05 pathfinder and wondering what you guys out there are getting in mileage. I am getting just around 400 KM for city driving. Continuous HWY driving may 500 pushing it. Is this the best a pathfinder can do ? What are you guys/gals getting out there. I am a Canadian Owner. I'...

Keep in mind the cooling system in the R51 is not like the older Pathys. The radiator cap is not the pressurized cap in the system; it is only used for topping off the radiator. If you look at the underside of the radiator cap, there's no spring or vent mechanism. That you'll find on the cap of the...

Thanks smj,

I started up the Pathfinder with the rad cap off. Soon after start up, coolant started flowing out. That's a surprise to me as I usually see coolant overflow when the thermostat opens up and gets hot.

06 Pathfinder coolant level

I opened the hood the other day to charge the battery as it has been sitting for a few weeks. I took off the radiator cap and couldn't see any coolant whatsoever, just the cooling tubes. The coolant reservoir is 3/4 full... dumb question here, should it be like this? This is the second time I've not...

yea...but hard to do but my bolt were rusted on real bad and had to have two people yank on the wrench for a half hour. then just used a hammer and small/ larger sockets to pound in/out the u joint caps. then bolt it all togehter Not rust, it's lock-tite. If you're doing the front u-joint, turn the...

NHTSA investigation radiator/transmission failures

Gonna have to hijack this thread since I can't post a new topic because I am not a MODERATOR. A Moderator should repost this. I found this from another Nissan forum website. Sourced from Autoguide.com: A defect investigation has been launched regarding a transmission problem in model year 2005-2010 ...

I'f you're talking about what I think you're talking about it's a big job, fro my understanding they have to life the whole frame off of the body in order to change out those lines due to the location of them. If you do a forum search, you should be able to find some posts regarding them, most peop...

Re: Rear A/C line - how long to fix?

I've added a link below to a business on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. They know it's becoming a common problem and they have a write up and pics on what they see and the repair done. They don't say how long it'll take to repair.

you dont need to replace if nothing is wrong. If the blue fuzz ate it up, you can replace just the terminal clamp end. Unbolt the 12mm under the cap, I think it's like $10 with a new nut. Use dielectric grease to prevent the issue again. If you don't wanna grease it up, flush it with hot water when...

Anyway, I used an aftermarket U-joint (Precision, #354) and I think it might not have been manufactured to spec. On one side of the yoke I was able to get both caps on and secure the snap rings, but the other side seemed too long. No matter how much I hit it after installing the snap ring on one si...
