Well, thanks for the feedback. The deed is finally done, went with a set of Silent Armor in the end. I must say they look great and ride pretty well (on all of 10 miles or so since this morning...). Naturally, I get them installed the day after winter pays its brief annual visit to southern NM...mis...

Agreed - road hazard is the only enhanced warranty type deal I buy on anything. Everything else it's a rip off in my opinion, but tires are different.

Great stuff guys, thanks! I'll look into the options you mention. Too many choices leads to paralysis by overanalysis when it comes to spending $1000...Good job I've got 6 weeks before the trip!

LT vs P pros and cons

Looking for some tire advice here. I am fed up with the OE Long Trails (crap in the wet) and with a Christmas 3500 mile round trip looming I'd prefer to change before I go. Generally, my driving consists of city/highway and some time off road. Nothing particularly gnarly but regularly (weekly) on di...

I wanted something with a third row, decent ground clearance and 4wd. I've always like the shape of the R51. When a close relative started working with Nissan corporate it was only a matter of time, which hastened along once the 2013 changes were announced making the new one less desirable to me. Th...

i used a vinyl pull down. the first attempt with the 6mil and that didn't work out so well. however since moving to the 12mil it's worked great. going on what, a year and a half now? I've found I haven't missed it as much as I thought I might. I seem to have either all 7 seats up, all seats down or...

If interested, you can shop around Home Depot for parts and make one yourself. Last I saw, they had vinyl pull down shades. Thought about it, but didn't bother. I tried that with some leftover vinyl fabric (not a blind) and it proved to be hard as hell to get the tension right, so hard I gave up! I...

I've no issues with the brakes on my 2012 at all and I've got right at 20K on mine.

If it only has 12K this would be a warranty issue though, right?

I agree with you guys about dealers generally not knowing about models etc. I constantly see "S" models and "SE" models mixed up in the ads. And don't even get started with how many are listed as "Silver" models when that's just the color!! But this one I figured out o...

I have the dark cloth interior. Didn't want it originally because it's hot down here, but I'm fine with it now and it was all I could find in the sv trim. The difference on a hot day between my wife's versa (also black interior) and the pathy is huge, I think the insulation in the roof is much bette...

That's great! Sounds like a stand-up place.

I hope it goes well, I have been very happy with mine. I'm not disappointed with the ride or general driving dynamics. I find the interior perfectly functional and the front seats (cloth) outstanding. I can sit in them all day, and I have. When taking others the response has been the opposite report...

When I have taken the time to check, there seems to be a directly linear relationship to distance travelled vs how fast the vehicle thinks it is going. I would have that checked! t Well, in a bit of procrastination-driven googling, it seems that in US an acceptable inaccuracy is up to 5 % (I'm at 4...

At stock size, your speedo reads too slow. So by changing the tire size and gearing, you are probably correcting it. Check you vehicle speed with GPS to validate, though there is an error factor there as well. Mine's the opposite. 75 on the speedo is 71-72 by GPS, which if I'm thinking right means ...
