- Turn key to On without starting the car. - Wait 3 seconds - Depress the gas pedal to the floor and release completely 5 times within 5 seconds, and leave your foot off. - Wait 7 seconds - Depress gas pedal and hold down until the check engine light goes out and let go of the pedal. The light will ...

1. Perfectly fine if we're talking about 4wd high. In fact you can switch at nearly highway speeds (check your manual for specifics). I usually will turn it on and off serveral times throughout a trip if the roads are clear, but corners or side roads are sloppy.

2. I have no idea. Sorry.

UPDATE!!!

Well, I ended up driving it for them, and of course it would not happen with the tech in the car. Luckily I had it in for a control arm linkage also, so no "diagnostic fee." Their thought is that the tranny is having trouble down-shifting in some conditions, or that a servo in the torque c...

I brought it in for a rattle that I saw a TSB on for the power intake valve that rattles right at 2200RPM. They ended up replacing the timing chain tensioners. The rattle is still there, but I didn't push it because I got a new timing chain out of it. I have the extended warranty even if I was past ...

Hilarious. After I explained it to them, they call me a few hours later and inform me that my oil fill cap is loose and the heat shield around my oil filter needs new clips, which incidently is not covered by warranty (ha ha). I told him I was confused beucase I told him it felt like the transmissio...

That would actually make sense, as I have also been getting a subtle clunk over bumps and sometimes turning.

I've got about 55K on it, but a warranty till 100K. Time to make an appointment.

Thanks.

Transmission Chattering at low RPMs

Ok Folks, this is a weird one. When I am traveling 30-40 mph, and I put a little bit of gas into her, just to get up a gentle hill, something int the drive train vibrates like I am going over a subtle washboard. You can feel it in the floor, as well as the gas pedal. The truck stays at about 1100rpm...

Normal. The mechanics of disconnecting a moving drive train are complicated. Speed, torque, acceleration all need to be considered before it can disengage. I find letting off on the gas for a few seconds will often let it pull out of 4WD.

There's no way you're going to get 135 hp out of intake and exhaust. Maybe if you added a supercharger, turbo or Nitrous.

If the sound is consistent with tire rotation, meaning if it speeds up and slows down as the vehicle does, and it's only when you turn...I would say bearing. Is it louder in one direction than the other. Go to a parking lot and do some slow sweeping slolam (sp?) turns to see if you can recreate the ...

Nissans are infamous for this. My Sentra used to sound like a popcorn machine for a good 5 minutes after shut down. They basically wrap the exhaust from the header to the tail pipe in a spot welded, or clamped, clam-shell of exhaust shielding. Think of it like a house radiator that creaks and pops a...

I had this happen to me before... Try making sure the window is fully latched closed. If it's not, then the main door won't open. Uhhhh...what? ....oh wait, nevermind. I think you are thinking of the lift gate, and they are talking about the rear passenger door. That being said. I can open the lift...
