Sounds like the fluid in the transfer case or rear might have frozen.
I would try the heat gun and hopefully that works.
If that's it, a fluid change might be in order.

The 2011 and later models came from the factory with a fix.
Is this actually true, or has anyone with the later models experienced issues?
