I used a similar cooler made by Tekonsha on a Chevy 4x4 I had. It was 11 x 11 x 1.5. I never could tell that the bypass thing ever worked, as the whole cooler was always warm. However, it doesn't ever get below the 30's here, ever. Still, that was a really good cooler and I never smoked that transmi...

You only the see the problems when you look on boards like this. My Jeep should have caught fire, my Ford should have thrown a rod, and my Maxima should have spit CV joints. Our PF has been absolutely trouble free. My mechanic(an independent) has one of those BG machines. It is gentle enough that th...

Try shifting it to each shift position, pausing a second or so on each one before checking again.

Blocking both sides is a valid concern. I happen to have mine set up this way right now. I have both a cooler and a fan on the passenger side, and the factory cooler on the driver's. There's been no cooling issues - so far. It did the King's Canyon grind, trailer in tow, without issue. There is stil...

The electric fan is a two speed deal and turns on in response to engine temperature, not transmission temperature. With the AC off, it will turn on low @ 208 degrees and on high @ 221 degrees. With the AC on, it gets more complicated. There's a grid in the factory service manual that tells you when ...

All R51s have both an auxilliary transimission cooler as well as an engine oil cooler. The engine oil cooler is water to oil and your oil filter screws onto it.

That's the exact model I was looking at until my wife asked, can this come with a 3rd row? The only thing that I was bummed about when we moved up to the Pathfinder was that I couldn't get the stick shift.

pawjr - You'd just use rubber hose to link them. Likely it would be the bottom outlet of the 05-07 cooler to the top inlet(visible on mine) of the 08+ cooler, and the bottom outlet back to the transmission. eieio - A transmission temp gauge would really help figure if you need one the additional coo...

EIEIO - This link was what I was originally going to do. http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25955 This type of cooler is like the one Kevster was linking to, just a different size. A better cooler would be like the factory one on our PF, a stacked plate design. etrailer.com has a bunch of...

I stick to the 3,750 mile interval. I don't ever want to run into an issue with the warranty and have them say the oil wasn't changed at the correct interval according to the manufacturers recomendation. This is exactly what we do and why. We tow quite a bit, so we are definately in the severe duty...

I remember that thread. Mine didn't make the noise when it was new. You can now hear it, but it is not very loud.

Welcome to the forum, btw.

I have mine in the cubby. It's right there but out of the way. The wires easily reach to the harness by the steering column. You just need to cut a small hole at the back for the wiring to go through.

Congratulations. I'm glad you researched the known problems right off the bat. The radiator/transmission issue can be prevented, which is nice because it is a big repair. Many of the others are minor for the DIY'er, or fairly rare. You'll likely recognize what it is if they ever crop up. I use court...
