Re: Namibia

Botswana has some awesome semi-desert areas, salt pans (Makgadigadi Pans) and then the Okavango Delta. I am currently in Botswana for work and use every opportunity to go explore. Kubu Island is one of my favorites. If you come over again, drop me a line. Maybe we can hook up somewhere. Botswana an...

Re: 2008 V6 question

Last week a quickie lube shop replaced her u-joints and now last night her car wont hardly move. ?I had no idea they actually did anything aside from fluids and filters. I hit these places once a year for emissions, and even sitting in the waiting room scares the crap out of me, simply for all the ...

Namibia

Another long road trip on foreign soil is behind me. Took the girlfriend and another friend of ours to Namibia for a bit over 3 weeks and ~4000km of driving mostly dirt roads. Rented a Toyota Hilux with 2 rooftop tents. I brought along an old ground tent for my own personal use that I gave away at t...

265/75/16 Thanks! I see a lot with the r behind the 75 - "265/75 r /16".. any difference there to be worried about versus ones without the r? None. You'll see them listed in various ways, but if you walk into a tire shop, saying "265/75/16" is all that matters. Although you also...

Re: transporting two tandem kayaks

got a 2005 pathfinder se. about to purchase two 13'6" tandem kayaks, so looking for feedback on roof rack hardware anyone has any experience with while transporting such large kayaks. i am ok with non-collapsible ones, as i am paranoid about collapse mechanism disengaging during transport. tha...

It says it can calibrate for tires up to 54 inches! I don't feel like you can have tires that big on the road legally. Thanks smj but I'll probably just have to deal with the difference. Or perhaps if I could find an off-road version and pull the abs parts off to make it match? What year? On my 200...

I get the point, and that makes sense. What I don't get though is technically I am running more air than the stock as I am on 285/65 tires. I'm guessing those new 285s you are running are LT tires? And by "more air," are you talking strictly PSI? LTs can take a butt load more PSI over P-r...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder Keep or Sell

I have a 2008 Pathfinder with 96,000 miles on it & trying to decide if I should keep it, and if I do, what next to expect will go wrong with it. So far, I have replaced the radiator (before it was able to leak into the tranny cooler), rear coil springs, wheel bearings, and had to repair the Bos...

I would have suggested a 16" wheel. Still blows my mind that people are happy driving around on 20"+ wheels.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but anyone know of some affordable cats? Tempted to get one off Ebay for ~$180. The internals of one of mine are coming apart, which is creating annoying rattling sounds at certain RPMs.

Re: Rear springs broken

Does anybody know how common this is? I saw a YouTube video last night, where someone else had a busted spring. I pulled mine off and replaced them within a few months of buying. They have been sitting in a box ever since. Do the Armada springs even fit? I would imagine they are quite a bit stiffer.

With the last snow storm we got a few days ago, I've been in and out of 4WD a lot lately. Mine seems to completely get out of 4WD after I make a turn. It just keeps blinking if I'm going straight. My experience as well. The second I make a pretty good turn, the indicator will stop blinking. It will...

My 2008 Pathy just climbed over the 200,000 mile mark and still running strong....knock on wood! Damn. All my earlier vehicles were 1970-ish models. Constantly having to replace plugs, plug wires, belts, etc. I'm only at a bit over 100k on my Pathfinder, but it is simply amazing the longevity of al...

I received the tires today although haven't had them mounted yet. But I put one by the wheel well and does seem like might be a reasonably tight fit. I was hoping to use tire chains with these eventually, but I wonder if going to have clearance to do that? It will be frustrating if not, although I ...

Note that you may experience some mild rubbing on the mudflaps at full lock. Mine did this, mostly due to gravel and road debris caught in them which caused some interference, but like I said, only at full lock. The only rubbing I've experienced is when the suspension is fully stuffed at full lock ...
