The 'stat side can be replaced easily if you gouge it with a scraper, the block side not so much. If you really want to seal both sides, use something that comes off easily with solvent and not explosives.

The electric brake pigtail and the relay pigtail are two different things. The brake pigtail should be on the lefthand side, not the right. Usually it's way up high on the leg of the Main Harness that descends behind the parking brake, taped back to the harness.

You should find the pigtail for the trailer relay harness taped back to the harness, probably a bit further down than the branch that goes to the door. They're often out of sight on the back side.

Yep, that's the front edge of the door you're looking at in the pic. If it was mounted on the truck, the accordion rubber and wire bundle would be connecting the door to the door frame. Separate the grommet ends from the door and frame and check the wires inside.
