I have been using dextron 3 on my 2001 since the beginning and it is what is suggested in the nissan manual for canada vehicle... Is there a difference between the usa and canada transmission ?

If your coils are not too collapsed then you're in good shape for 30.5. Do you have a picture of your truck stance as of today ?

I would also have a look at the driver wheel well and shock tower for any excessive rust or possibly rupture of the metal around the shock tower. There has been a recall for this and the symptoms that you are saying could fit the issue... you can also remove the air box and verify if the steering co...

Well... According to ALLDATA, you're looking at between 17 to 20 hours of work to change either 1 or both head gaskets. The gaskets are about 50$ each..

Are you looking for options betwene the garage vs yourself doing it or are you looking at making the repair vs selling the truck ?

I used to have a similar clunk that I could not figure out for the life of me... It ended up being the inner tie-rod ends. I know that actuation of the selenoid is also dependant on the coolant temperature. It needs to read between 59F to 122F... The 3.3 was always a bit low on hp...reliable it is though... There is not much you can do other than to make it breathe better... so you would be looking at a k&N air filter, or maybe a bigger exhaust through out ($$$). I believe replacing the fan with an electric one could also free some extra...
