When you say "stock", do you mean the radiator has not been replaced? If it has not, replace it like yesterday. The alternative is a trans replacement of $4-6K. Failure will delay the wedding for some time.

Most of us on this forum are from North America and Nissan does not sell any diesel anything here, sad to say. Nor any manual transmission PF.

This may be somewhat difficult to accomplish, but if I had to replace the engine, I would look into a wrecked Xterra manual transmission transplant. Not sure if feasible, but I have never been happy with the auto trans in my PF.

Re: Diesel in Gas Pathfinder...

I go through a jug of oil every 500 miles or so. Please help.... is your "jug" a gallon? 3.78 litres - pretty sure its a gallon. Need to revise my math, I assumed it was a quart. Yes, that IS a lot of oil. As for spark plugs, I had the dealer do it. It seemed rather involved for my skill ...

From things said on this forum in the past, I get the impression that the cats do not like any misfires that go on inside this engine. It is for that reason I decided to replace the 100k mile spark plugs early and use injector cleaners. Sounds to me like the cat substance got sucked into the cylinde...

I have to agree with smj999 about the plugs. Even tho they are supposedly good for 100k, I replaced mine before the 90k mark because of some comments on the forum.

http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46272 In 4th gear you get what Nissan calls "Slip Lock", looks to be modified version of full lock up that allows for a locked condition at low speed or small throttle open positions, but reverts to open quicker when in 4th or 5th gear for bett...

According to the service manual, the torque converter only goes into lock-up in gears 3 and 5, never in gear 4. So extra heat is generated while in gear 4.

you have power out of the relay but no power at the hitch connector? And you're sure its not constant power coming out of that relay? (Just making sure) If I can speak for jman and express it another way… You need to measure the voltage under load. The relay contacts may be pitted but yet able to p...

No need to wait. Add 8-10 oz. Best anti-friction stuff I have come across.
I think my noise was from the infamous chain guides.

Shortly after I bought mine at 65K, I noticed some noise. I changed the oil the dealer had done & added MotorKote. Still quiet at 98K.

The bypass will limit the trans cooling ability. I chose to replace the radiator to maintain cooling and yet avoid the costly dreaded coolant contamination

Bug shields affect mpg in a negative way, no matter brand of vehicle.
Some have a drastic need for them, others like the look.

I have a similar size & weight camper, 2003 Amerilite, 21’. My observations are that drag severely increases when speed goes beyond 55-57mph despite the angled front. It’s the square rear that sucks on your box. I got 12-13mpg at ~55. 10-11 at 60. Fuel tank is small, so expect many fill-ups. Use...

Your PF is at the age that the individual tire stem batteries wear down, causing this. This mandated feature was thanks to Ford Explorer, Firestone, and the recommended tire pressure to get a soft ride some years ago. As a result the tires overheated & blew. Personally, I monitor my tires close...
