cam shaft sprocket allignment marks

Postby 99Pathy » Tue Oct 13, 2009 11:00 am

Just replaced the timing belt myself. Manual shows a mark to allign the dimple on the crankshaft sproket but I could not find any such mark against the engine. We set the #1 piston to TDC (if you didn't already have it there - fingers crossed) by pulling the #1 spark plug and poking in a screw driver then slowly turn the crankshaft until it's at the top. Then alligned the camshaft sprokets to their dimples (which WERE visible) then installed timing belt. Counted teeth to make sure correct number between dimples then buttoned it up. fired right up and runs great. That crankshaft sprocket dimple should be around the the 4 o'clock position IIRC. The crankshaft key way ends up at aroudn the 10'o'clock position. good luck!
