drive shaft mismatch?

Postby valenburg » Mon Sep 22, 2014 3:15 pm

I had to order a replacement (used) drive shaft due to an injury trying to remove a u joint from my old one. I ordered one for an automatic 4wd without awd. The part received was number 37300 ea500, the old one is 37300ea510. The nused one is about an inch shorter. The REAL question is when I put in my VIN on various parts sites, it says the nused one shouldn't work because my VIN is listed for A STD and not automatic. My car is an auto and when I manually switch it to auto on the sites, the nused part number comes up. It seems like it should fit in the transmission but would it be wise to use it? Based on my truck being an automatic it should, just wanted some advise from the gurusw out there!

The part they sent you, 37300-EA500, is for an LE, which is the only model that has the auto transfer case, which is larger than the non-AWD transfer case. Perhaps by "STD" they were referring to the transfer case rather than the transmission? I would return the shaft and use the 37300-EA510, which is listed for the 05-07 Pathfinder S, SE, and SE-OR models. There are no standard transmission R51's available in North America. FWI: Nissan #37300-EA510 has been superceded to part number: 37300-ZL91A.

Weird, just trying to do some research on the issue for when I call for a return and I came across this.. http://parts.nissanusa.com/nissanparts/ ... atalogID=0
t has both the superceded parts as the same number? I lined up the shafts and the new one vs the old one would equal just a tad over 1" of less on the transmission splines. I'll have to get on a computer since doing all this research on the phone is very difficult.

"37300-EA500" superceded to "37300-ZL90A" (LE 4x4 models)

"37300-EA510" superceded to "37300-ZL91A" (S, SE and SE-OR 4x4 models)

I found that earlier, my bad. Called the company (automotix.com) and gave them the part number which they confirmed. If you need used auto parts, they seem like a decent company, so far!
