Differential flush?

Postby Gray » Sun Sep 14, 2008 12:58 pm

Here's a question and some responses from the BITOG forum about differential flushes;

I was wondered if any here do differential flushes or just regular drains and refills and aside from kerosene if there might be other products to clean the inside of the diffs. Auto-RX looks like it might be an effective ester based metal cleaner but do any have other recommendations.

At Peterbilt we use diesel fuel to clean out diffs when they get water or metal shavings in them. One nice thing is diesel fuel mixes with gear oil and still lubricates. I also use it when cleaning out engine blocks. After you clean out the housing with fuel just brake clean the housing out with a rag and re fill with new gear oil.
