Loud squeal when starting

Postby Kestral » Wed Jan 14, 2015 3:50 pm

I have noticed on my 2012 PF V6 I get a real high pitched "squeal" when starting below zero and only below zero? It sounds like that annoying high pitched squeal when you need new brake pads. It takes a several seconds to go away and it's loud! Any thoughts? I was thinking a bad pullie on the serpentine belt? Or the belt not tight enough?

It's the fan clutch. Stops after a little while. Annoying but I didn't bother fixing it.

Should I bother to have the fan clutch replaced? Or will the new one just do the same thing? Do you think it would be covered under the 60,000 mile warranty? My 3 year 36 just ran out in Nov of last year.

You could talk to the dealer about that. They told me the new one wouldn't probably end up making the same noise. I didn't replace it and have had no issues.
