MAF replacement part

Postby parkbackwards » Thu Feb 12, 2015 6:06 pm

Hi Guys,

I have a '97 Pathfinder and the MAF stalls the car when I tap on it. I've check the wired component and the wires are intact so I'm guessing its a connection issue within the MAF housing body.

I did some research and found this thread: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/ ... fix/page-2

I already ordered the Nissan Maxima MAF part #22680-2Y001 and now looking at the pictures for that part it is different than what I have and doesn't look like it with be a direct fit. My MAF is a 4-pin and pictures show 5-pin.

Some pictures show the MAF comes with the whole assembly but not sure if what I ordered comes with that.

Does this 2001 Maxima MAF work on the 1997 Pathfinder for anyone?

I believe the "Maxima retrofit" only applies to 2001-and-later R50 Pathfinders, which had the VQ35DE, and not the earlier, VG33E-equipped Pathfinders.

Thanks for your reply...I was able to cancel the order I had made. Do you know of any other MAF that would work for a '97 other than OEM ($433)?

Thanks!

You can get a Hitachi mass air sensor from Rockauto.com for $179. Hitachi is the OEM part supplier to Nissan.

The RockAuto part numbers are slightly different then what I see on the MAF I have:
NISSAN
22689-2J200
AFH70-14
HITACHI

When I google those part numbers I get an amazon result with an aftermarket direct replacement for $90. Have you had any experience with these parts and their reliability compared to OEM? Or, would you recommend I get the Hitachi part?

Thanks again!

Hitachi is going to have its own part number on it on the aftermarket, not the Nissan part number. It'll still work. I wouldn't trust any other aftermarket brand other than Hitachi or Mitsubishi, because they are both OEM suppliers to Nissan of electrical and engine control parts. I've seen too many headaches caused by non-OEM brands on Asian-based vehicles, so I don't recommend them. It's your truck, so if you want to take the gamble, that's on you!
