Occasional stiff brake pedal.

Postby blackohio » Tue Aug 25, 2015 10:21 pm

Sometimes randomly i'll let off gas and go to brake and the pedal is stiff, unusually stiff. It takes about .5 seconds to go away and brake like normal.

Almost like a vacuum issue or something.

I've had this happen when I had the cruise on and have been pulling my travel trailer. Not sure what causes this but it definitely is disconcerting!

It definitely seems to be engine vacuum related though.

Looked at some old threads. Brake Booster Check Valve seems to be the cause.

$4 part. gonna order and see. Definitely seems to mostly be prevelant when under hard acceleration then braking.

A few years ago there were several others with the same problem. As noted above, the brake booster check valve was the culprit.
