1999 bumper

Postby jrprice30 » Sun Nov 22, 2015 9:18 am

I'm a complete newbie to both pathfinder and this forum. I just purchased a 1999 LE with the chrome on the front and back bumper, which are rusted. I like the looks of the 1 piece colored bumpers much better. I've seen them for sale on ebay already primed. Can I use these 1 piece bumpers instead of the chrome? If so what all will I need to get? I realize the bumper covers and the paint, but what else. Thanks.

1999 was a "split year" for the Pathfinder. VIN #'s up to -350000 were 1999 models and -350000 and later were 1999.5 models. The latter model was a refresh and part of that refresh was updating the front end. I'm pretty sure the bumper brackets, or "stays," were the same, it was just the bumper, the over bumper and the corners that were different between the years. What I'm not sure is how well it goes with the rest of the front end, i.e. grill and fenders, and if you need to update that, as well. Hopefully someone can give you some more information to that extent.
