04 Pathfinder Chinook quit working

Postby Wobbles12 » Thu Mar 10, 2016 4:55 pm

Ive had a problem for about 2 weeks that when i press on the gas pedal the vehicle rumbles a bit. Today however, while driving on the highway my gas pedal cut out while accelerating and only raised the rpms. Gas would kick back in for a few seconds before failing again, pulled over, car stalled on the side of the highway. Try to resart engine, all lights come on and will crank but wont turn over. Popped the hood quickly and smelt a burning smell but got the Fack away from the hood as fast as i could fearing i would become roadkill. Buddy says it may be a cracked distributer cap? I cant even find the distributer cap on my vehicle of there is one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You don't have a distributor; you have individual coil packs. Have you tried checking for stored trouble codes? Also, "crank" and "Turn over" are the same thing. I think you mean it'll crank, but it won't "fire" or "start?"
