Intake Power Valve???

Postby AZRoushStang » Mon Dec 22, 2008 1:56 pm

Hey all,

My Path had a weird rattle(ish) noise during normal driving right before the shift. They first said it was a heat shield, but that didn't fix it. Now they are saying it is the "intake power valve".

Now, I'm not exactly sure what that is, or does. I did some looking online and the closest thing I could come up with is that it is the Nissan equivalent to my Mustang's CMCV (Charge Motion Change Valve). Is that what it is?

Or can someone give me some info on this?

Thanks

I'm curious if this is the same sound I seemed to have developed over the past couple of months. Sounds kinda like an exhaust leak, but seems too consistant. Only occurs at a specific throttle position during acceleration.

I got 2K more miles on the powertrain, so I will be bringing her in soon.

I would like to know if this is the cause of the sound you are describing.

I think I might be experiencing the same sound -- only during acceleration and it usually is right around 2200 rpm.

Doesn't happen when I am in P or N and rev to 2200...

This fixed the noise for me...amazing how much quieter it is after this fix, the alternator, and the timing chain/tensioner...

There are TSBs out for all of these. Take it in.

Sorry to awaken an old thread, but which fixes were done?

A while back, I brought my pathy in because the rattle at 2200RPM, having read the TSB about the power intake valve.

They said it was the timing chain tensioner, which they fixed under warranty. Unfortunately, it did nothing or the rattle.
