Starter location

Good morning guys,

I have a 07 SE Pathfinder. I drove my car to work and it ran just fine. I went to leave and it would not start. Like the battery was dead. I tried to do a jump and still nothing. I ran to autozone and got another battery. Did the install and still nothing. No turn or click. I narrowed it down to the starter. Before I purchase one I decided to take it off and bring it to get tested. My dilemma is, I cant find it.

On my other vehicles it is located at the front of the car. I did some research and could not find the location. Do any of you know the location of it? I saw that it maybe under the car on the passenger side and maybe on top next to the engine. Pics would work. Thanks in advance!

Try wiggling the gear shift before diving into the starter. Wiggle it while you turn the key.

It's not in the easiest location to get to. It's on the passenger side of the engine. There are a couple of shields hiding it. It might be easiest to remove the plastic fender well liner at the right/front wheel to access it.

So I replaced the starter and it still will not turn over......

You might want to check it for codes. There have been a number of PNP switch failures reported. The PNP is part of the TCM/valve body assembly of the transmission.

Hey guys. I found out why the truck will not start. I replaced a fused under the hood. It's a 10 amp fuse that has something to do with the transmission. I replaced the fuse and the truck started up. But.....when I turn the truck off, it blows the fuse. It has something to do with the tcm and transmission fliud being mixed with coolant in the radiator. See below.

That is a very unusual symptom for a SMOD tranny.
I hope its a misdiagnosis.

Did you check under the radiator cap if yous ee frothy milkshake ooking deposit under it?

If yes its the coolant mixing..

Since u didnt have shifting issues.. there might still be a chance to save the tranny.... keep flushing the fluid out and replace with new.
use cheap ATF fluid for as many fluid exchanges as you can afford...since u are replacing it anyway.. only then at the end fill with maxlife import ATF for your final fill.

Am also interested what our master techs such as SMJ have to say...
