Question about a clicking sound

Postby dawgn86 » Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:06 pm

Good afternoon,

Been awhile since I have posted, but have a question I hope someone can answer.

2006 PF...189k miles / auto / 4.0 When I crank up the car and at idle, when I depress the brake pedal, I hear a clicking sound at the transmission shifter console selector. I can feel it and it feels like it is coming directly under the PRND indicator. I have not noticed this before. I am thinking it is some sort of safety relay that will not let you shift until the brake is depressed.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

It's the shift lock actuator. It locks the shifter in the park position unless the brake switch is depressed.
