ok so i might have hurt the pathy

Postby coom1986 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:30 pm

Hi guys, me been a member for some time but last night i might have hurt the pathy..
Ok so it was late at night, real dark back road absolutely no light at all..I was takin a turn with 5 ppl in the back, all heavy weight guys and i didnt see a rock..And you guessed it, whack..I hit the front right where the lower suspension meets the chassis..I think.I was going pretty slowly as in like 5 kmph, and from what i could see underneath, it didnt hit anything else exceot for the point.I drove it for another 40 odd kms and didnt notice anything different. No new noises or vibrations at all..I checked all the major components like, sump, transfer case, oil pan and even the cross members and from what i could see nothing..

Nything else i should look for and just wondering if any of you guys have also made such hits before..

Pls help cos right now my heart is in my stomach!!
Thanks alot
Cheers

its got a very strong and sturdy chassis. i've bashed mine numerous times, more than i care to remember, and all i got is a bent sidestep ONCE, but thats cause i jumped and landed on a rock.

i do sand driving, canyon driving, you name it.

no damage at all to front, engine bay, shocks, .. whatever.

as long as no noises means alls good.

dont worry, it can take a heavy beating and live to tell the story

Thanks alot mate,, i know the R51s got a real durable chassis, just needed some reassurance i think..Come to think of it, i just drove over it, nothing dangerious or spectatular i just didnt see it, like i said, after what i heard when i went over it, all that was there was only a scrape mark and thats about it..
Im definitely going to invest in some skid plates now..Any one got the part number for the OEM plates..I think it was Carl who posted in once but i cant find the thread..

screw OEM bash plates.

get a proper 12mm aluminum sheet under it custom made.

will cost ya close to $400 installed.

(i managed to bend even that! and no harm to chassis)

i totally destroyed the OEM on my first jump.

everything in the car is stock, no upgrades none on anything except an air intake if u even call that an upgrade.

the pathfinder stays rock solid as long as that overkill 1/2" takes the beating.
(which i also managed to bend yesterday in a jump that cost me my bumper :( )

pix to come if you like.

its fine my dumb ass nailed a branch that had grown under the road i hit at 35mph it was so damn hard the wheel pulled to the right im sure the tire lifted of the ground because in the back i broke a bi pap machine. The pathfinder is tough i wouldn't even worry about it.
