Canvas sunroofs...?

Postby RacerZX » Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:27 pm

I'm pondering getting one of these installed, any thoughts or expirance with large canvas sunroofs?

I'm looking for that open air feel that the latest Jeep Liberty gives with that mega roof, especially while navigating rocky canyons in DV or touring Yosemite Valley...

We Found More Electric Sliding Ragtops!

Available again while supplies last! European factory electric sliding ragtops are back (for now).

I might be concerned about their statements above. While these may be well made and reliable, how available will support and replacement parts be if needed down the road?

So I decied to go for it...I have the name of the manufacturer from Europe to get replacement parts if I ever need them. Street Beat Customs actually used to be the supplier, but the web site was sold off and the company behind them is now that link I gave on the first post. The installer is literally cutting my roof open right this second...

OUCH! Pics? Are you going to mount handgrips up top so your kids can stand halfway out of the vehicle when you hit the dirt?

Dude, I can barely watch!

Yeah, taking a good number of pics, though not full scale DYI detail. He was able to pull down the headliner without fully disconnecting the plastic covers on the A/B/C/D pillars, so that's cool. Because of the slope of the headliner the sunroof will sit rearward an inch or two more than I like, but I still should be able to look straight up and see sky. Back seat passengers are the ones who are going to get the full glory view, but that's not a bad thing...

Carl-

I bet you will have the biggest s#!t eating grin on your face driving the only turbocharged ragtop Pathfinder in the world. I'm going to call on my next business trip to the area to see if I can check it out.

Hats off to you. Awesome out of the box projects!

Man that is awesome. I have a few questions and can't wait to see PICS!!!

1) did you have rear air ducts in the ceiling, how do they account for that?
2) did you have a factory moonroof?
3) what did they do to account for the rear overhead light?
4) which size did you get?

Looking forward to see the end result. very cool.

1, the air ducts are on the edges of the headliner, not a problem.

2, no

3, The plastic trim pieces in the interior JUST fit between the front map lights and the rear map lights. Therefore the opening isn't totally huge, maybe just double the size of a normal sunroof. Twice as big again would rock but then it would be very custom and a manual roof.

4, I got exactly that roof linked to above, those dimensions.

I'll do my best to throw some pics online tonight. I'm off to Yosemite for the weekend to show my GF's folks around, so I need to get those pics online or it's going to end up being next week before I know it...

We're all waiting for an update, Carl. How's the road noise at highway speeds with the roof closed? Have you hit any weather yet to test for leaks? Pix?
