94 Pathfinder Thermostat problem??

Postby wolfmandu » Sun May 17, 2020 6:05 pm

hello. I just bought a cherry 1994 Nissan Pathfinder v6 4wd with manual transmission. I need some advice. The temp gauge barely heats up when the engine is completely warmed up. Thinking I need to replace the thermostat. Any recommendations on what brand stat I should buy and what temperature. I live in Northern CA where it rains a lot but I want the heater to work well everywhere I travel and the temp guage to work correctly. This is my first Nissan Pathfinder ever!! Drove 22re 4runners, 1st gen, before this. Thanks in advance for any advice. Also, if anybody has on/off road suspension ideas, that's welcome too.

Aftermarket t-stats can sometimes tend to run the engine a little on the cold side. The genuine Nissan thermostat, P/N 21200-V5015, usually lands the coolant gauge needle right in the middle. That's what I would stick with. I use gray RTV sealant for the gasket.
