2" lift recommendations and potential UCA rubbing?

Postby Gr8Dane » Sun Nov 14, 2021 3:22 pm

Hey guys,

long time reader first time poster here.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I'm having a hard time finding a thread to answer my questions. So bear with me for the repetition.

I just bought an '06 Pathfinder LE w/ 115k miles and I'm doing a bit of work on it. First off new aftermarket radiator to prevent the very common transmission strawberry slushy. After that I plan on slapping a 2" lift on, front and back, and some 265/70/R17 all terrain tires.
I have searching far and wide and could use some recommendations on 2" lift kits.
So far I've had my eye set on the PRG subframe lift with new struts in the back (link for parts is at the bottom) paired with the Air Lift 1000 airbags (got this idea from Alger Adventures on YouTube).
I'm having a harder time finding something for the front. I know I can do either spacers or Struts, but have a hard time figuring out which is a better option. For me, I'm just going to be doing this to tear up the occasional dirt road and snow covered hill, and for the more aggressive look of the vehicle. No crazy off-roading or far out camping trips.
My biggest concern is not being able to get the vehicle aligned properly after (I will take it to a professional) and the UCA rubbing or hitting my coil. I don't have much knowledge when it comes to camber adjustments and how that comes into play. Does anyone have any good suggestions or experience with this? As far as I understand, UCA rubbing is not super common on the pathfinders as it is on the Toyota vehicles.

I will gladly take any recommendations on lift kits. So far I have looked at Supreme Suspension 2" spacers for the front (link at the bottom). I don't have much experience when it comes to struts, but so far I have found the Rancho Quick Lift loaded struts. Are these any good? Since I will be doing by far most on-road driving I would like to maintain a comfortable ride. Luckily I am handy and am confident I can install on this myself, just don't know which parts to get.

Thank you, and Godspeed,

Gr8Dane

I did the subframe drop in the rear and it did not mess with the alignment at all. As for the front, I went with the 3" spacers from Supreme Suspension and had to change out the Camber bolts in the lower control arms to get it back in alignment for the front.
I also learned a lot from Alger Adventures. He gave me the confidence to tackle the project on my own.

did you use the same square tubing for the rear as Alger Adventures? or did you buy?

I used square tubing that I bought from a local shop. Total cost for tubing cut to size was $11. I bought the extended bolts at https://www.boltdepot.com/.
All total I lifted 3" in the front and 2" in the rear for just a little over $100.
