IPDM Upgrade

Postby Code Pathfinder » Tue Feb 22, 2022 1:06 pm

Upgraded my IPDM to the latest version from Nissan.

This IPDM has better internal components along with a better layout design for fuses and relays. Some relays are internal to this IPDM which can be a drawback for some. To me, this didn't matter. The original IPDM has issues with Relays and ECU communication problems down the road so I figured it was time to fix this issue.

Comparison between new and old. There is a plug that is not used at all so don't be worried if it's missing on the new one.

If you do this upgrade, make sure you get a new cover for the fuse box, the old cover has the old diagram for the old IPDM where the new cover would have an updated diagram for fuses and relays on the new IPDM

Very nice!
I've been looking at the IPDM/Fuse Box myself, planning to do a small rewire to give more control over the factory fog lights.

The big terminal block atop the fuse box cover has me in awe! What do you have hooked up?

I haven't looked into this extensively, but I'm guessing it's a unplug, unbolt, clean the location and install the new one in reverse process?

No unbolting, it's held in with pawls and tabs.

There are slightly different IPDM's for different MY's and variations. The best thing will be to plug your VIN into NissanPartsDeal.com. That will let you look up the original IPDM part number and show you the supersessions. The most current part number will be the new design.

Well, I take that back, NPD is just showing "multiple supersession" for all the R51 IPDM's. If you don't get results there, you may get some from feeding your VIN into some of the other Nissan dealer sites like Tasca or Courtesy. Or you can just call a dealer parts department with your VIN.
