Stalling with entire dash lit up :(

Postby palmerwmd » Sun Aug 07, 2022 3:13 pm

This is actually my Xterra but they are mechanically identical with R51s so I posted it up here.

Background.
Both camshaft Postion sensors replaced with Hitachi parts in last 3-4 months.

Now however a new problem started:
- Vehicles stalls repeatedly. Multiple lights come on.
not just the SES light but also the TCS and others.
Unlike the previous failures of Camshaftpostion sensors the 4WD light blinks and even the mile counter display and the 4WD display disappear for a moment during the stall.
This was not the case before.
So symptoms are roughly comparable to failing camshaft position sensors but more severe (more stalls, stalled approx 12+ times on a 6 mile drive home from walmart) and warning lights that were not an issue when the camshaft PS were faulty came on, such as the 4WD light.
Replaced battery (which was bad) thinking this may be a cause of issues.
Problem was fixed for the drive home and a subsequent drive from home to Walmart.
then when driving home form Walmart came back with all symptoms returned and multiple stalls, was happy to make it back home.

Thoughts?

Scan it. The ABS/AWD lights are probably coming on from a C1130 when the ECM quits sending engine RPM, but that means the ECM will have codes in it.

Thats about the one thing left short of major curveballs . :|

I am super busy at work this week and will have to maybe let it be and just drive my Pathfinder
