Long time R51 owner here (2005 and currently 2011) and am considering the R53 as an eventual replacement.
Does anyone know if a full-size tire will fit where the temporary spare tire is normally stowed on the R53?
I looked at the on-line owners manual for the R53 and found no guidance about storing the tire you remove when changing to the temporary spare tire.
I would prefer to carry a full-size spare.

Looks to me like there's plenty of room, although it might hang a bit below the bumper.

Thanks for the pictures. Even on my 2011, about two inches of the full-size spare tire is visible below the bumper.
It seems that temporary spares are often a smaller diameter than the tires. Is the temporary spare for the R53 the same diameter as the normal tires? Maybe this depends on the trim level.

Rolling diameter is never very different on a space saver, the ABS would go nuts every time you had to use it.
