I had one of the coils fail already. I replaced it with an OEM one. Do the coils tend to expire at the same time? It does run a little rough at idle (slight shaking of the vehicle). Would the coils cause this? I saw the Z1 coils thread there. it is nice to see that those are not 100$ a piece + like the oem ones.silverarrow27 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 10:48 pmDefinitely go with the coolant lines at the firewall. Valve cover gaskets and coil packs if you haven't done them.
Yes if they're all very old, or if the vehicle grounds are getting dicey.
Yes. Plugs too, or carbon buildup, or a lot of things. But can coils cause it, positively.AS_The_Crow_Flys wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 4:16 pmIt does run a little rough at idle (slight shaking of the vehicle). Would the coils cause this?
Do you have the exact parts number of those plastic coolant manifold parts for a V8?VStar650CL wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 3:21 pmOn an '07, you know that plastic coolant manifold is gonna break. The stuff embrittles 100% of the time with old age. So that isn't a question of if, but when. I'd call that a stitch in time, not chasing trouble.
Mounts are easy to check, but you need an assistant. Have someone work the shifter D -> R -> D -> R repeatedly and give it a little gas between shifts. Healthy mounts should only let the engine lift a little, maybe an inch or so. If it's visibly banging around when it's gassed in gear, one or both mounts are shot. If they're really far gone you'll probably get a little "bang" when the engine torques. The tranny mount can be checked the same way but you need to crawl underneath, if the tail of the tranny is bouncing up and down like a rubberball with each shift then that mount is shot.
