Tranny fluid change procedure

Postby husky570 » Wed Nov 25, 2009 12:31 pm

Dealership wanted $200 to do tranny fluid change-forget it, rather do it myself. Did a search and didnt really turn up anything on the procedure of doing this. What is the procedure-step by step ?

Thanks

Did drain and refill on all my fluids today on drivetrain, used Mobile 1 synthetic ATF said was applicable for "Matic J" use on the tranny, got 3 1/2qt out of it on drain.

Used Valvoline tranny oil that was"Matic D" rated on transfer case, got 2 1/2qt out of the drain

Question is: The fluids I used- bad choice? and the amount I got out of drain of tranny and transfer sound about right?

On the diffs you should be ok.

However, most on this board will agree that ONLY Nissan Matic-S should be used in the tranny and transfer case.

I used to think this was a load of crap, but have heard of and seen many situations where people have used generic and had issues. Honda vehicles are also sensitive to generic transmission fluids.
